Beneath the canopy of pine trees, upon the soft moist earth of the Shadowclan territory, a lone black cat walked, no direction, no purpose in his journey. He just needed to get out.
The air was thick with the scents of new-leaf and the smaller plants and deadened trees were blossoming with green foliage and cast white and pink petals to the wind. Batfang walked along with a stride that made him seem to glide across the littered forest floor. It was a peaceful, cool day, perfect for a midday stroll without the company of other cats, a perfect time to clear your mind and get some fresh air.
His pure black pelt swayed ever so slightly with the breeze that caused the towering trees to creak and bend, a pleasant and reassuring sound. Crystal blue eyes scanned the area around him as he walked on, all senses alert for any patrols or even intruders. As if any sensible cat would dare stray into Shadowclan's swamps. Batfang thought with a smirk, knowing that many cats were too frightened by stories of how fierce the dark clan was, those being enough to drive them out.
A nice breeze blew head on to the tom and he closed his eyes and embraced it, reveling the feeling of it in his fur. But something carried on that wind made him freeze and snap to attention, eyes narrowing suspiciously. Another cat...doesn't smell like the other clans horrid smells though.. He thought, quickly going in the direction of the scent, it becoming stronger with each stride until it became apparent that the cat was a fellow Shadowclan warrior.

ooc: No one else is replying, sooo. I have to twist it a little though, since I don't have a Shadowclan cat. ^.^''
It seemed that Batfang's senses were failing him, or perhaps it was that Fernsky had been away from camp for so long, that she didn't even smell like Riverclan anymore. It seemed that the medicine cat Mintsage had once again become distracted and wandered off, much farther and for much longer than expected. She had been gone from camp for quite a number of days yet, simply because it never crossed her mind to return. Needless to say the she-cat felt quite a bit foolish at being caught this far in to Shadowclan territory, but indeed she was caught when the deputy burst forth from the foliage.
Her mind had been unfocused and one step became another as the light-hearted medicine cat gallivanted after a butterfly into Shadowclan territory. It had only been a few moments before that she realized her error, and by then she was lost. She had also left the herbs she had been gathering back in her own territory, so she had no alibi. At least he couldn't accuse her of stealing prey.
The brown and white lithe she-cat tilted her head, which was slightly ducked in apology. Green eyes flashed brightly with embarrassment and humor, though she was mainly laughing at herself. "Greetings, Batfang. Fancy seeing you here." Looking around for a moment, she seemed more or less a little helpless. "I....I appear to be a little lost." She finally mumbled, voice low and soft. Batfang would help her, wouldn't he?

(ooc: Ha, it's okay. I appreciate you replying anyway xD)
Batfang had been absolutely sure the cat he had set his eyes on was Shadowclan, even the scent seemed bathed in the dark clan's thick, pine smells. Imagine his surprise when the supposed 'fellow clanner' turned out to be Riverclan's medicine cat, Mintsage.
Stopping in his tracks a tail-length away from the she-cat, his maw slightly ajar to express his disbelief, the deputy and medicine cat locked eyes and were caught in a moment he could only describe as embarressment - that for thinking this was a Shadowclan cat and her being here. Why was she this far into another clan's territory and so far from her own? Certainly she wouldn't be daring to capture prey here, nor steal their precious herbs. But what else could explain why the brown and white she-cat was intruding.
It seemed only Mintsage's lame gathered excuse was the one thing to bring Batfang from his silent thoughts. Blinking intense blue eyes, he narrowed them down at the small she-cat and made his expression stone hard and cold, though not before a twinkle of laughter sparked his expressive eyes. "Yes, it seems you are." He murmured loud enough for Mintsage to hear. Doing a quick survey of the area and scenting of the air, it was clear that no other cats were here planning an attack on Shadowclan. She was alone.
He had to admit, it wasn't hard to believe that Mintsage had wandered onto Shadowclan land. Practically every cat in the five clans knew that she was a cat who's head was constantly in the clouds. A stubborn she-cat, but a dreamer still. Was it possible she let herself get so distracted to travel such a long distance?
But even with all the suspicions left towards this medicine cat, Batfang couldn't disrespect his ancestors or Mintsage by acting terribly hostile. Still, he couldn't just lead her to the border and let her be gone with a simple apology. He was Shadowclan's deputy, this was an intruder, and he needed to make sure she understood she was doing wrong.
"You are trespassing on Shadowclan territory, Mintsage." The black tom mewed deeply, tail tip flicking to try and display a degree of irritation. "I'll escort you to the border, but you have to tell me what your really doing here. And I suggest quickly." After all, a prepared patrol would be making their rounds soon and they would treat the medicine cat less kindly than he.

ooc: Hihi, I've been bee meaning to play around with Mintsage anyhow. Perhaps we could make this thread a little more interesting. *.* Fox attack sound plausible? Mintsage could always treat Batfang if he got hurt, that would be amusing for her. xD
Mintsage watched with some mirth as varying degrees of emotion passed over Batfang's face, ranging from surprise to amusement to a cold sternness. Though she knew her current situation was nothing to sneeze at, the brown and white she-cat couldn't help but see the foolishness of her actions as some-what comical. She was still desperately hoping that Batfang wouldn't make a huge fuss of this, as being caught in Shadowclan territory could cause a lot of trouble for her own clan. Her green eyes were wide with trepidation at the thought.
Dipping her head in bashful embarrassment, she listened to his mini lecture with a solemn face and soul-full eyes. However, she couldn't resist lifting her head to input her own opinion on the matter. "Is it really trespassing if you do it by accident? I'd call it more 'wandering' or an 'unplanned detour.'" She murmured, mouth twisting up at the corner for a small smile.
Bowing her in heart-felt gratitude, the slender she-cat looked up under hooded lashes, feeling very small in the unknown forest. "If you would do such a thing, I would be eternally grateful, though I guess it isn't really an option for you to decline, is it? I am a hostile enemy after all." Her feathered tail flickered across the leaf debris in slight irritation, quite displeased with the fact that he thought her a liar. Medicine cats had their own code of honor to abide by.
Turning on her heel, she stalked off in what she hoped was the right direction. "You accuse me of both lying and trespassing now, deputy? What reason would I have to tell you a false statement? If I told you I wandered in here by accident, then I did. I can not seem to recall ever giving you a reason to doubt my word." Steel laced her voice, but humor did also as she was enjoying this talk.
